Kura te Au (Tory Channel) 

Another landmark of Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō ancestor Kupe, Kura te Au (Tory Channel) is where Kupe destroyed Te Wheke-a-Muturangi. At certain times of the year, red water flows through Kura Te Au. According to tradition, this represents the blood of Te Wheke-a-Muturangi.
